    About Us

    Leveling the Fields is a Charleston-based nonprofit ensuring that every girl, regardless of income or zip code, has equal access to sports and leadership opportunities. Our flagship EmpowerPlay program combines athletics with an empowerment curriculum designed to build confidence, resilience, and future-ready leaders.

    Role Overview

    We are seeking passionate and organized volunteers to support our development (fundraising) efforts. As a Development Volunteer, you will play a key role in helping us grow our donor base, steward existing supporters, and build the foundation for long-term sustainability. This role is ideal for someone interested in nonprofit fundraising, donor relations, and community engagement.

    Responsibilities

    • Research potential donors, corporate sponsors, and foundations.
    • Assist with writing and editing donor letters and sponsorship packages
    • Help manage donor database (GiveButter, spreadsheets, etc.) and track outreach.
    • Support planning and outreach for fundraising campaigns (e.g., Giving Tuesday).
    • Identify and connect with local businesses for in-kind or corporate partnerships.
    • Assist with donor communications (emails, thank-you notes, social posts).
    • Collaborate with the Development Lead and other volunteers to hit fundraising goals.

    Qualifications

    • Previous fundraising, sales, or nonprofit experience is a plus.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Comfortable with online research and organizing information.
    • Detail-oriented, reliable, and able to meet deadlines.
    • Passion for youth sports, girls’ empowerment, and community impact.

    Time Commitment

    • Flexible, approx. 5–15 hours per week (remote or in-person).
    • Minimum 3-month commitment.
