    iOS Engineering Director (Volunteer)

    nenos is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit reimagining the digital world through ethical technology and digital literacy. We are developing a nonprofit social media platform that is ad-free, algorithm-light, and built to empower authentic connection. We also developing Digital Roots, a digital literacy program focused on cybersecurity, media literacy, and tech-for-good education.

    About the Role

    We’re seeking a volunteer iOS Engineering Director to lead and coordinate our iOS app development efforts. You’ll work directly with the Chief Technology Officer to guide strategy, manage iOS volunteer engineers, and ensure progress toward key development milestones.

    This is a leadership-level, remote volunteer position, ideal for someone with iOS development experience who wants to give back to their community.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage and support iOS engineering volunteers
    • Coordinate development and roadmap progress
    • Review code, provide technical guidance, and enforce best practices
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams
    • Advise on architecture, security, and performance improvements
    • Ensure ethical, accessible, and content creator-centered app development

    Qualifications

    • Availability for volunteering and communication in standard U.S. Eastern Time
    • Experience in Swift and iOS app development
    • Previous team leadership or mentorship experience preferred
    • Familiarity with Git/GitHub and collaborative workflows
    • Passion for ethical technology, open-source tools, and digital wellbeing
    • Strong communication and organizational skills
    • Comfortable volunteering in a remote, startup-style nonprofit environment
