Description
Join the GMCLC Adult Program and help adults in our community build essential literacy and communication skills. We are looking for patient, supportive volunteers to conduct one-on-one tutoring or lead small group workshops.
Duties (may include):
After attending the volunteer orientation, the following is expected
- Meet regularly and punctually with your learner(s)
- Plan and conduct lessons tailored to your learner’s specific needs, learning styles, and interests
- Review and reinforce learning frequently – praise often
- Attend two facilitating continuing education workshops within the year
- Check in with the Adult Program Coordinator regularly concerning learner progress
We ensure all our volunteers are well-prepared for success:
- Training: You will receive free, comprehensive training in adult literacy instruction and effective strategies for working with adult learners.
- Requirements: Volunteers must be 18 or older and attend a one-time orientation.
