Become part of the team that keeps our pups happy, healthy, and on their best behavior while they wait for their forever homes! As a Dog Squad Volunteer, you’ll work alongside FAAS staff and experienced mentors to provide daily care, enrichment, and positive interaction for our canine guests.
Whether you’re scooping poop, tossing toys, or helping a shy dog come out of their shell, your time means the world to our dogs.
What you’ll do:
- Walk dogs for potty breaks, playtime, and socialization
- Support basic training and enrichment activities
- Observe and report on dog behavior, health, and appearance
- Record notes after each shift to keep staff updated
- Take photos and videos to promote adoptable dogs on FAAS social media
You’re a great fit if you:
- Love dogs of all shapes, sizes, and energy levels
- Can commit to at least one shift per week (scheduling is flexible)
- Are comfortable with basic leash handling (training provided)
- Are calm, observant, and eager to learn - no experience needed
- Want to make a real difference in a shelter dog’s day
How to get started:
- Attend a Shelter Support Class to learn how the shelter operates
- Complete one Shelter Support Shift for hands-on experience
- Attend the Canine Class and complete 3 shadow shifts with a mentor to join the Dog Squad
Why it matters:
Every walk, cuddle, and enrichment activity helps our dogs feel loved, stay mentally stimulated, and become more adoptable. Whether they're with us for a week or a while, your care helps them move one step closer to their forever home.
