Nonprofit
Volunteer Outreach & Marketing Coordinator – Run Mag Mile Team
Details
Description
The Chicago Help Initiative (CHI) is seeking a creative and enthusiastic volunteer to help grow Team CHI for the Run Mag Mile 5K and 10K on September 12.
CHI serves a weekly community meal at Catholic Charities in River North, where guests can access hot meals, social workers, employment assistance, support groups, and other resources. Funds raised by Team CHI help support these programs and the people we serve.
This is CHI's first year building a charity running team, and we are looking for someone who would enjoy helping us recruit runners, spread awareness, and build excitement around the event. This volunteer will play an important role in helping Team CHI grow and succeed.
What You'll Do
As our Volunteer Outreach & Marketing Coordinator, you will help us attract new runners and supporters by:
- Promoting Team CHI through social media, community groups, and personal networks
- Reaching out to local running clubs, fitness groups, gyms, churches, schools, and community organizations
- Identifying newsletters, event calendars, Facebook groups, and other places where Team CHI can be promoted
- Brainstorming creative and low-cost ways to increase registrations
- Helping us tell the story of CHI's work and why running for our team makes a difference
- Helping create a fun and welcoming team atmosphere that encourages people to sign up
Who We're Looking For
We are seeking someone who enjoys connecting with people and sharing causes they care about. Experience in marketing, communications, fundraising, event planning, social media, community outreach, or volunteer coordination is helpful but not required.
The ideal volunteer is:
- Friendly and outgoing
- Comfortable reaching out to individuals and organizations
- Creative and willing to suggest new ideas
- Organized and dependable
- Passionate about helping people experiencing homelessness and poverty in Chicago
Time Commitment
Approximately 2–5 hours per week through race day. Most work can be done remotely and on a flexible schedule.
Why Volunteer?
- Help grow CHI's first-ever charity running team
- Gain experience in nonprofit marketing and community outreach
- Meet runners, volunteers, and supporters from across Chicago
- Make a direct impact on programs serving people experiencing homelessness
- Help shape a new initiative that we hope will continue to grow in future years
Whether you are a marketing professional, a student looking to gain experience, a runner, or simply someone who enjoys bringing people together for a good cause, we'd love to hear from you.
