Volunteer from the comfort of your own home!
Do you like to sew or quilt? Use your special skills to support our patients by making fidget mats to provide sensory and tactile stimulation for the restless hands of our Alzheimer’s and Dementia patients. Fidget mats offer exercise, increase focus, reduce anxiety, soothe and calm nerves, and provide comfort. Please make sure items are securely attached.
Any Shape, Size No Larger than 14"x14"
Consider both men and women when choosing fabrics and accessories such as:
- Zippers
- Buckles
- Velcro
- Ribbons
- Textured fabrics
- Pockets with an attached object that can be put in and pulled out or pockets with zippers
- Lacing, etc.
- Sports items
- Stuffed animals
- Child-sized, plastic, light-weight Tools
- Child-sized, plastic, Kitchen utensils (whisk, spoon, spatula)
- NO small objects such as buttons or beads that patients can pull off and potentially eat.
