Description
Volunteer with LIFT Community Food Pantry for Our 5th Anniversary Back-to-School Giveaway & LIFT's Got Talent!
Make a difference in the lives of children and families by volunteering at one of Brooklyn's largest community celebrations of the year!
LIFT Community Food Pantry is celebrating five years of serving the community by hosting our 5th Anniversary Back-to-School Giveaway & LIFT's Got Talent! Youth Talent Show on Friday, August 28, at Herbert Von King Park, Brooklyn, NY, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
This exciting event will bring together hundreds of children and families for a day of free backpacks, school supplies, community resources, entertainment, and youth talent. Numerous community-based organizations, advocates, elected officials, and service agencies will be on-site, making this a meaningful opportunity to connect with the community while giving back.
We are seeking energetic, compassionate volunteers to assist with:
- Event setup and breakdown
- Family registration and check-in
- Greeting guests at park entrances
- Wristband distribution
- Backpack and school supply distribution
- LIFT information and resource tables
- Vendor and community partner assistance
- Children's activities and event support
- Photography and videography
- Crowd assistance and hospitality
- General event support throughout the day
Whether you're volunteering individually, with friends, as part of a corporate team, or to fulfill community service requirements, your time and dedication will have a lasting impact on the families we serve.
Volunteer Training Required
To ensure a safe, respectful, and well-organized event, all volunteers must complete a brief online training before the event. The training consists of short videos covering Civil Rights, Ethics, and Food Safety/Food Handling, followed by a quick online quiz. The training is free, self-paced, and easy to complete.
Join us as we celebrate five years of service and help create an unforgettable day for Brooklyn's children and families. Your support will help ensure every child starts the new school year with confidence, encouragement, and the supplies they need to succeed.
Volunteer Shift: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
We welcome individuals, families, student groups, faith-based organizations, and corporate volunteer teams.
This version is more likely to attract volunteers because it highlights the community impact, clearly explains expectations, and appeals to students, community groups, and corporate teams looking for volunteer opportunities.
