Help Provide Community Services in Savannah, GA! (Mercy Volunteer Corps, August 2027-July 2028)

In addition to medical services, the St. Joseph/Candler Health System provides community services through St. Mary’s Community Center. St. Mary’s strives to accompany people to improve their quality of life through resume and application assistance, job searches, public benefits applications, free tax preparation, and free eye exams and low-cost glasses for uninsured individuals. A volunteer is needed to serve as a center assistant and will welcome clients, provide guidance for public benefits applications and renewals, facilitate job searches and edit resumes, organize the monthly eye clinic, assist with tax preparation, and help plan programs and parties for local senior citizens. Team members also float to their sister center, the African American Resource Center, to assist with chair yoga, cooking demonstrations, computer classes, health classes, and financial literacy.
