Disaster Response Volunteer – Join the Disaster Action Team (Central Jersey)
Details
Description
When disaster strikes your community, Disaster Action Team (DAT) volunteers are the first to respond—day or night—to provide comfort, care, and essential support to families during their toughest moments. This opportunity supports all seven Central Jersey counties: Hunterdon, Somerset, Mercer, Middlesex, Union, Monmouth, and Ocean.
As a DAT volunteer, you’ll help people facing emergencies by providing:
- 🏠 Immediate resources (food, clothing, temporary lodging)
- 🤝 Emotional support and reassurance
- 📦 Assistance replacing critical items
- 📘 Guidance to help families begin their recovery journey
DAT volunteers work as part of a team, responding to local home fires and other emergencies and coordinating closely with Red Cross leadership to ensure families receive the right resources. Volunteers also complete online trainings and take on-call shifts to support neighbors in need.
Time Commitment
🕒 5–10 hrs/week | 📅 On‑call shifts | 🎯 Flexible schedule
📍 Where You’ll Serve
