Experienced Social Media Video Editor and Content Repurposing Producer, Remote Volunteer
Details
Description
Help us turn meaningful real-life stories into content that reaches, moves, and inspires people.
We are seeking an experienced, creative, and highly polished volunteer video editor and content repurposing producer to join our growing, mission-driven media team.
The project is led by Gayle Kirschenbaum, an Emmy Award-winning filmmaker, author, TEDx speaker, forgiveness coach, and social media creator. Gayle and her nearly 103-year-old mother, Mildred, have built a large and deeply engaged online community through honest, humorous, and emotionally resonant storytelling. Together, they reach more than 200,000 followers across social media.
Gayle’s films and television work have appeared on HBO, Netflix, and national television. Gayle and Mildred have also been featured in media around the world.
Our work explores forgiveness, family relationships, aging, caregiving, resilience, bullying, medical advocacy, longevity, and the power of human connection.
We are looking for someone who can transform existing footage and written material into compelling, polished content for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, and Substack.
This is not simply a technical editing position. We need someone who understands storytelling, emotion, pacing, humor, and how to capture attention within the first few seconds while preserving Gayle and Mildred’s authentic voices.
What you will help create
- Edit raw footage, interviews, archival material, and long-form videos into polished short-form content
- Repurpose existing footage for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Facebook, and Substack
- Create platform-specific versions of the same story for different audiences
- Identify the strongest moments, emotional hooks, memorable quotes, and humorous exchanges within longer footage
- Add captions, titles, music, graphics, transitions, and calls to action when appropriate
- Create carousels, promotional clips, trailers, thumbnails, and other social media assets
- Use ChatGPT and other AI tools thoughtfully to help develop hooks, captions, titles, descriptions, carousels, and content variations
- Maintain Gayle and Mildred’s authentic voices, warmth, humor, and emotional honesty
- Help organize footage and track content through editing, review, approval, and publication
- Work within an active publishing schedule and help maintain a steady pipeline of completed content
Who we are looking for
We are looking for someone who:
- Has strong experience editing social media videos and can provide polished work samples
- Understands the pacing, storytelling, and visual style required for short-form content
- Has excellent judgment about what makes people stop scrolling, watch, respond, and share
- Can work efficiently and maintain a steady editing pace without sacrificing quality
- Is proficient with CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or comparable editing software
- Has experience repurposing one piece of content for multiple platforms
- Has excellent written and spoken English and can recognize an effective hook, caption, title, and call to action
- Understands how to use AI as an editorial and creative tool without producing generic or impersonal work
- Is organized, dependable, responsive, and able to meet agreed-upon deadlines
- Can manage multiple pieces of content at different stages of editing, review, and approval
- Welcomes feedback and enjoys collaborating closely with a filmmaker, creator, and small creative team
- Is sensitive when working with personal stories involving family, aging, caregiving, trauma, health, and forgiveness
Experience with Canva, Substack, YouTube thumbnails, podcast clips, social media analytics, and content organization is a plus.
Why join our team?
You will be joining a small, growing, mission-driven creative team that uses storytelling to spread forgiveness, understanding, connection, and hope.
At a time when division and hate feel increasingly loud, our work offers practical tools and deeply human stories that help people heal old wounds, navigate difficult relationships, care for one another, and live with greater resilience and purpose.
Gayle and Mildred’s work has been featured in media around the world and reaches a large, deeply engaged international audience. Through Gayle’s work and the extraordinary presence of her nearly 103-year-old mother, Mildred, we also celebrate longevity, humor, curiosity, and the belief that life can continue to offer new possibilities at every age.
Your editing will not simply promote a person or a brand. It will help us carry an important message farther, inspire people around the world, and strengthen a growing global community.
You will become a valued member of a collaborative creative team while gaining meaningful portfolio experience, appropriate public credit, and professional references.
Location
This is a fully remote volunteer opportunity and is open to qualified applicants anywhere in the world.
Applicants must have reliable internet access, excellent written and spoken English, and some availability to communicate during Eastern Time business hours.
Time commitment and workflow
We publish content across our platforms at least five days a week and are looking for someone who can contribute consistently to that schedule.
This is a flexible, remote volunteer role, but it is not an occasional assignment. The editor must have enough weekly availability to complete agreed-upon deliverables, communicate regularly, respond to feedback, and meet established deadlines.
The amount of time required will vary depending on the editor’s experience, workflow, and editing speed. We care more about the quality, consistency, efficiency, and timely delivery of the work than the number of hours spent.
We are initially asking for a three-month commitment. Specific weekly assignments, deliverables, deadlines, and turnaround times will be discussed and agreed upon in advance.
This is currently an unpaid volunteer opportunity.
As our audience, programs, and revenue grow, an exceptional volunteer may be considered for separate paid freelance assignments as funding becomes available. However, no future compensation, freelance work, or employment is promised or guaranteed.
