IHM is a 501(c)(3) registered nonprofit that operates the historic Issaquah Depot, Gilman Town Hall, and several historic installations throughout Issaquah.

    About our board

Our board of directors provides leadership, oversight, and support IHM—and you don't need previous museum or nonprofit board experience to be a great board member. What matters most is a commitment to our mission, a willingness to participate, and a desire to help the museums thrive.

As a board member you will:

    • Provide leadership and oversight
    • Attend monthly Board meetings and participate in special events when possible
    • Help set strategic direction and support the museums' long-term sustainability and growth
    • Review and approve policies, budgets, and organizational plans
    • Help the museums raise money and build support
    • Participate in fundraising activities and events
    • Use your personal and professional connections to help expand the museums' network of supporters
    • Bring your skills and perspective to committee work and collaborate with other board members

    Who we're looking for

    • Care about preserving and sharing Issaquah's history
    • Communicate well and enjoy working collaboratively
    • Are willing to contribute their time and talents to the museums
    • Are or are willing to become members of the organization

Experience in any of these areas is especially helpful:

    • Fundraising and development
    • Financial management
    • Community outreach and marketing
    • Education and program development
    • Legal services

We're also committed to building a board that reflects the diversity of the community we serve. We welcome qualified applicants from a wide range of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
