    Description

Are you passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of children affected by cancer? We are looking for dedicated volunteers to join our mission of providing free, fun, and supportive camp experiences to these amazing kids.

As a member of our Oncology Camp program, you will have the tangible opportunity to create and document unforgettable memories, foster friendships, and be a source of strength and joy for campers. You'll also be part of a compassionate and enthusiastic team dedicated to empowering children to just be kids. Whether you’re looking to build your resume, gain professional references, or simply wanting to use your artistic skills in a new way, this is a unique, hands-on opportunity you’ll never forget.

    About This Role:

We are seeking a Camp Photographer to help us document the magic of Camp Casco's Oncology Camp 2026. As a member of our camp team, you will get the unique opportunity to provide our campers and their families with photos from the camp week to preserve their memories. Photos and videos help tell the stories of our campers. These photos are sent home to parents during the week of camp, letting them see how much fun their child is having at Camp Casco. They are also used in marketing to promote Camp Casco to prospective families and donors alike. While taking photographs is the primary goal for this role, any experience in videography and interviewing is a bonus.

    What is Oncology Camp?

Oncology Camp is a one-of-a-kind program designed to address the unique challenges that childhood cancer patients face. Our 2026 program will take place in Groton, MA, August 16-22. All of our camps are offered free-of-cost to our families to help combat the long-term challenges of childhood cancer.

    Specific Responsibilities

Most importantly, you will get the unique opportunity to help give childhood cancer patients and survivors an incredible week of camp: feeling understood, having fun, and building friendships to last a lifetime.

Strong candidates will possess the following qualifications and skills:

    • 18+
    • Fully vaccinated for COVID-19
    • Able to pass a background check (provided by Camp Casco)
    • Able to commit to the full camp session in August 2026 (August 16-22) in Groton, MA
    • Experience in photography and videography
    • Great communication skills
    • Experience working with children is preferred
    • Strong interpersonal skills, such as conflict resolution
    • Not afraid to get silly and have fun to make a kid smile
    • Determined to help us make this camp session our best one yet!

    Expectations & Commitment:

Applicants must be able to commit to attending the week of the in-person camp session in Groton, MA (August 16-22, 2026).

    Benefits:

    • Build Your Resume
    • Volunteering with us is a great way to set yourself apart from other candidates! You’ll also meet many other volunteers in a variety of industries, growing your professional network. Volunteers will also gain professional references and recommendations from the Camp Casco to strengthen your next application and help you reach your career goals.
    • Strengthen Your Skills
    • Serving as a photographer at Camp Casco can help you use your existing skills in a creative new way.
    • Gain New Perspectives
    • Camp brings together a variety of people with a variety of life experiences. You may never have seen a child with a port scar before, or heard a sibling talk about the emotional weight of seeing their brother go through countless painful treatments as a child. You will gain unique insights into the world of pediatric cancer and the many ways it impacts patients and their families. It’s also common to see a lot of kindness and joy at camp - a refreshing reminder of all of the goodness that exists in our loud and chaotic world.
    • Have A Blast!
    • At the end of the day, our camps are about having fun. Away from your desk and electronics, you’ll spend time laughing and getting messy, singing camp songs, and getting to know of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. It’s not uncommon for volunteers to leave with lasting memories and friendships, just like our campers do.
