Description
Being a hospice volunteer is an intensely rewarding experience. To get started, you will need to complete an interview, background check, TB test, and orientation. As a hospice volunteer, you will have access to education resources to equip you for this role and ensure you feel comfortable.

As a hospice volunteer, you will be given the choice as to what types of things you want to do and how much time you want to contribute. Typical volunteer responsibilities include:
- Companionship
- Reading and taking walks
- Writing letters
- Visiting with pets
- Listening to music
- Vigil Sitting
- Supporting families: Respite Care, Meal Preparation, and Light housekeeping
- Bereavement Support: Participation in memorial services and assisting support groups
- Office Work: Assisting with mailings, computer data entry, administrative duties
