    Future doctors, nurses, PAs, social workers, therapists, and healthcare professionals: hospice volunteering gives you something textbooks can’t 📚❤️

    As a hospice volunteer, you’ll learn:

    • Patient communication and bedside presence

    • Compassionate care and active listening

    • How the hospice IDT team works together

    • Real-life experience with charting, documentation, and professionalism

    • The emotional side of healthcare and family support

    A strong hospice volunteer reference letter can help strengthen applications for:

    • PA Programs

    • Nursing School

    • Medical School

    • Social Work Programs

    • CNA/CMA programs

    • Scholarships and healthcare internships

    Volunteers provide companionship visits, conversation, music, games, reading, tuck-in calls, and support for patients and caregivers. Most visits are about 1 hour a week, and volunteers choose their schedule.

    No medical experience needed. Training provided.

    📋 Interested in Becoming a Hospice Volunteer?

    Here’s how to get started:

    1. Stop by the office Monday–Friday between 9:30 AM–4:30 PM to fill out a volunteer application.
    2. Meet with the Volunteer Coordinator to learn about available opportunities and ask questions.
    3. Complete onboarding requirements, which may include:
    4. • Background check
    5. • Drug screening
    6. • TB testing
    7. • Training and orientation
    8. Choose a volunteer role and schedule that works best for you.

    ✨ Volunteers can help with companionship visits, tuck-in calls, veteran support, office help, music visits, birthday programs, and more. Most volunteers visit about 1 hour per week.
