    Description

Conserve Life Foundation is seeking motivated and environmentally conscious volunteers to join the Community Conservation & Youth Engagement Volunteer Program in the Kilimanjaro Region, Tanzania. This program focuses on environmental protection, community awareness, youth education, and practical conservation activities within fishing communities and local schools around the Nyumba ya Mungu area.

Volunteers participate in environmental conservation activities including waste collection and beach clean-up along the shores of Nyumba ya Mungu Dam in three nearby fishing villages. Volunteers support community awareness campaigns on environmental protection, proper waste management, climate change, and sustainable use of natural resources, especially focusing on protecting water ecosystems and fishing environments.

In local primary schools, volunteers deliver environmental education sessions on global warming, climate change, and sustainability. Activities include tree planting with school children, establishing and supporting school environmental clubs, organizing school greening activities, promoting recycling awareness, and engaging students in practical environmental learning through interactive sessions and outdoor activities.

Volunteers also support youth engagement programs by mentoring young people, facilitating environmental discussions, supporting community outreach activities, and encouraging youth participation in conservation and climate action initiatives. Additional responsibilities include assisting with documentation of project activities through photography and storytelling, supporting nursery and tree seedling preparation, and helping organize community environmental events.

The program requires individuals who are passionate about environmental conservation, education, and community development. Volunteers must demonstrate good communication and teamwork skills, respect for cultural diversity, and willingness to work closely with school children, teachers, fishermen communities, and local residents. Previous experience in environmental work, teaching, youth programs, or community development is an advantage but not required.

Activities are conducted in communities surrounding Nyumba ya Mungu Dam. Volunteers also have opportunities during weekends or free time to experience local culture and explore nearby attractions in northern Tanzania, promoting cultural exchange and deeper understanding of community life while contributing to meaningful environmental impact.
