    Description

    Administrative Assistant

DESPERATELY NEEDED: SOMEONE WHO GIVES A CARE

GreenePets Foster Network, Inc. — Greeneville, Tennessee

GreenePets does not simply need another volunteer.

We need someone who can take the ball and run with it.

Our President has too many responsibilities competing for her time and can no longer personally manage every administrative, operational, research, fundraising, and organizational need.

That is slowing the organization down.

And when a rescue organization gets bogged down, the animals are the ones who ultimately lose.

We are looking for an Administrative & Operations Leadership Volunteer who is computer literate, organized, dependable, capable of working independently, and comfortable taking responsibility for projects from beginning to completion.

This is not an “Assistant to the President” position where someone waits to be told what to do.

We need someone who can help run the machine.

We also need someone who can help keep the President organized, focused, and moving forward.

    WHAT YOU MAY BE DOING

This position will evolve based on the strengths of the person who fills it.

    Responsibilities may include:

    • Developing and maintaining operations manuals
    • Creating written policies, procedures, forms, and organizational systems
    • Researching and monitoring changing laws, regulations, and legislation affecting dogs, rescues, kennels, breeders, and animal welfare
    • Researching vendors and finding better sources and pricing for organizational purchases
    • Developing donation programs
    • Developing sponsorship and fundraising opportunities
    • Helping organize projects and establish priorities
    • Maintaining schedules, deadlines, calendars, and follow-up systems
    • Helping plan and coordinate events
    • Organizing digital files and records
    • Assisting with QuickBooks and financial record organization
    • Creating systems so important information is not stored in one person's head
    • Researching problems and presenting possible solutions
    • Following projects through until they are actually finished

And that is only the beginning.

    SKILLS WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Experience with some of the following would be extremely helpful:

    • Google Workspace / Google Business tools
    • QuickBooks Pro
    • Operations manual development
    • Policy and procedure writing
    • Online research
    • Scheduling
    • Project coordination
    • Event planning
    • Recordkeeping
    • Fundraising
    • Donor development
    • Written communication
    • General computer literacy

You do not have to know everything when you walk through the door.

You do have to be willing to learn.

    You need to be dependable.

You need to be able to research an unfamiliar problem.

You need to be comfortable making recommendations.

You need to be able to see something that needs attention and say:

    “I've got it.”

THIS COULD BECOME A MAJOR LEADERSHIP ROLE

GreenePets also needs to begin developing its next generation of leadership.

For the right person, this position could grow far beyond its original responsibilities.

Someone who demonstrates commitment, judgment, organizational ability, leadership, and a genuine understanding of GreenePets could eventually move into a senior leadership position within the corporation.

That could potentially include serving as President of GreenePets Foster Network, Inc.

However, that position is not automatic or guaranteed.

Any future officer or Presidential appointment would be made according to GreenePets' bylaws and the authority of its Board of Directors.

What we are offering is the opportunity to learn the organization from the inside, help build its future, and earn increasing responsibility.

    WHO WE REALLY NEED

We need the person who organizes things while everyone else is still discussing how they ought to be organized.

The person who can open a computer, research a problem, build a system, document it, and move on to the next thing.

The person who does not need to be reminded five times.

The person who understands that animal rescue is not only about feeding dogs, cleaning kennels, fostering puppies, and finding homes.

Behind every successful rescue is an organization that has to function.

    Policies have to be written.

    Records have to be maintained.

Money has to be accounted for.

    Legislation has to be watched.

    Supplies have to be purchased.

    Donors have to be developed.

    Events have to be organized.

    Deadlines have to be remembered.

And somebody has to make sure things actually get done.

    PLEASE GIVE A CARE.

If you are computer literate, resourceful, organized, curious, dependable, and genuinely want to make a difference...

If you enjoy solving problems and building systems...

And if the idea of helping shape the future of an established nonprofit animal organization interests you...

We would very much like to meet you.

    GreenePets Foster Network, Inc.

Serving animals and the people who care for them since 2004.
