    Description

Technology & School Development Volunteer – Zambia (ICT, Education, Fundraising & Community Development)

Kwacha Kum’mawa is seeking three innovative local or international volunteers to support underserved partner schools in Zambia through technology-enabled learning, staff development, mentorship, and proposal support.

Many partner schools currently have limited or no access to computers and digital learning tools. We are therefore looking for volunteers with practical ideas, initiative, and problem-solving skills to help schools begin developing sustainable technology-supported learning environments.

Volunteers may assist schools in exploring affordable and realistic solutions such as:

      • sourcing computers, tablets, and phones,
      • identifying offline educational resources,
      • supporting digital literacy,
      • strengthening fundraising systems, and
      • helping schools prepare proposals and documentation for funding opportunities.

    Placement Locations

    📍 Lundazi District – 1 Volunteer

Upward Bound Christian Academy – a rural primary and secondary school located approximately 180km from Chipata.

    📍 Chipata City – 1 Volunteer

    Partner schools include:

      • Trinity Academy
      • Hebron Christian School
      • Shekinah School

    📍 Rufunsa/Lusaka – 1 Volunteer

Missions of Hope and St Mary’s Secondary School – community-focused schools supporting vulnerable learners.

    Volunteer Responsibilities

      • Supporting technology-enabled learning initiatives
      • Conducting staff workshops and digital literacy training
      • Assessing school needs and opportunities
      • Assisting with proposal writing and fundraising systems
      • Gathering documentation and evidence for donor support
      • Exploring low-cost offline learning solutions
      • Supporting mentorship and school development activities

    Who Should Apply?

    This opportunity is ideal for:

      • Educators
      • ICT professionals
      • NGO practitioners
      • Grant writers
      • Researchers
      • University students
      • Development volunteers

Applicants should have practical problem-solving skills and an interest in education and community impact.

    Placement Information

    Minimum placement period: 1 month

    Volunteers will receive:

      • Basic accommodation
      • Meals shared with staff/community
      • A safe environment within walking distance of the school

    Important Information

      • Volunteers are responsible for their own travel costs.
      • Personal laptops, tablets, or phones may become useful learning tools during placement due to limited school resources.
      • Volunteers are encouraged to bring practical, low-cost ideas suitable for low-resource environments.

    Expressions of interest must include:

      • Availability period
      • Preferred placement location
