    Description

    AfriGenetry Link (AGL) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting heritage, health, healing, and humanity through DNA. We work across Africa and the global African diaspora to advance genomic health education, ancestry and identity reconnection, genetic counseling workforce development, community engagement, and equitable access to DNA and genomic resources.

    Our initiatives include community DNA pop-up events, identity and campus reconnection programs, genetic counseling fellowships, genomic health awareness campaigns, research collaborations, and community-centered education focused on hereditary health conditions.

    Position Overview

    AfriGenetry Link is seeking a mission-driven Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our leadership team and Board of Directors.

    This is a volunteer executive leadership position for an individual based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area who is passionate about community impact, public health, operational excellence, and organizational growth.

    The COO will work closely with the Founder & Executive Director, Board leadership, department heads, and regional leaders to help oversee day-to-day organizational operations, improve execution, strengthen internal systems, and support the successful delivery of programs and initiatives.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide operational leadership and strategic guidance across the organization
    • Support organizational planning, execution, and accountability
    • Coordinate activities across departments, teams, and leadership groups
    • Help establish and improve operational systems, processes, and workflows
    • Monitor organizational priorities, timelines, and deliverables
    • Support the planning and execution of community programs and events
    • Assist with volunteer engagement and organizational growth
    • Participate in leadership and Board meetings
    • Serve as a strategic advisor to the Executive Director and Board

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in operations, project management, program management, nonprofit leadership, business administration, healthcare administration, or a related field
    • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively with diverse teams
    • Passion for health equity, ancestry, genomics, education, community engagement, or nonprofit impact
    • Experience in nonprofit organizations, startups, or mission-driven initiatives is preferred
    • Must be based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area
