    Description

    Commitment: 5–15 hours/week (flexible)

    Reports to: Executive Director

    Leads: Marketing team (5–15 volunteers)

    Role Summary

    This is a people management role focused on execution.

    The Marketing Committee Chair manages a team of volunteers, sets priorities, and ensures marketing work gets done on time. They run the weekly marketing meeting, and the role also includes conducting final “vibe check” interviews for prospective marketing volunteers prior to onboarding.

    Success in this role is measured by team output, organization, and follow-through.

    Core Responsibilities

    Team Management (Primary Focus)

    • Manage a team of 5–15 volunteers across marketing functions
    • Assign work, set deadlines, and ensure accountability
    • Run efficient weekly or bi-weekly meetings (with agendas + notes)
    • Identify gaps and help recruit to fill roles
    • Keep work moving forward consistently

    Planning & Prioritization

    • Set clear weekly and monthly marketing priorities
    • Align marketing work with fundraising and program timelines
    • Maintain a simple, working marketing calendar

    Execution, Strategy & Communication

    • Ensure campaigns, emails, and content are completed and deployed on time
    • Review and approve all outbound marketing before launch
    • Own the overall marketing strategy, with a full review and update annually
    • Keep messaging aligned with direction from the Branding Director
    • Provide a short monthly update to the Executive Director
    • Flag risks, gaps, and resource needs early

    Cross-Team Coordination

    • Work with Development on fundraising campaigns
    • Work with Programs on stories, updates, and needs
    • Work with Community Engagement on events and promotion

    Ideal Fit

    • Strong manager of people
    • Organized, direct, and comfortable holding volunteers accountable
    • Able to manage multiple moving pieces without overcomplicating things
    • Experience leading marketing operation teams, marketing content, and creative teams
