    Description

    Do you enjoy helping people and want to make a difference for homeless pets?

    Homeward Pet Adoption Center is seeking friendly, dependable volunteers to join our Reception team. As the first point of contact for visitors, adopters, and community members, reception volunteers play an important role in creating a welcoming and positive experience for everyone who walks through our doors.

    Requirements

    • Must be 18 years or older
    • Able to commit to a minimum of 6 months of volunteering
    • Dependable and able to attend scheduled shifts regularly
    • Comfortable interacting with the public in person and over the phone
    • Customer service, administrative, or reception experience is highly preferred

    Responsibilities Include

    • Greeting visitors and directing them to the appropriate resources
    • Answering phones and assisting with general shelter inquiries
    • Assisting adopters, volunteers, and community members at the front desk
    • Processing donations and basic transactions
    • Providing information about shelter services and programs
    • Supporting staff with administrative and front desk tasks
    • Maintaining a professional, welcoming atmosphere in the lobby

    What We're Looking For

    • Volunteers who are reliable, friendly, and professional
    • Strong communication and customer service skills
    • Comfortable working in a busy environment with frequent interruptions
    • Ability to learn shelter procedures and follow established protocols
    • A positive attitude and passion for animal welfare

    Training Provided

    All reception volunteers complete a phone screening, orientation, and front desk training before volunteering independently. New volunteers will shadow experienced reception volunteers and staff members to learn shelter procedures and customer service expectations.

    Shift Times

    • Morning: 11:30am–2:30pm
    • Afternoon: 2:30pm–5:30pm

    We are especially looking for volunteers who can help provide weekend coverage.

    This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in nonprofit work, animal welfare, customer service, administration, or community engagement while supporting a lifesaving organization.
