    The Realms of Asgard (TROA) is a registered nonprofit organization founded in 2017 with a clear and focused mission: to create a safe, inclusive space where people can connect, feel supported, and know they are not alone. Built around gaming, community, and mental health advocacy, TROA serves individuals from all walks of life, particularly those navigating mental health challenges.

    Network Engineer

    The Volunteer Network Engineer designs, implements, maintains, and supports an organization’s IT infrastructure, including LANs, WANs, and wireless networks to ensure high uptime and security. Key responsibilities include installing routers and switches, managing firewalls, troubleshooting network performance issues, and performing security updates. They often require 5-10 years of experience, specialized certifications, and a degree in computer science or related fields.

    Key Responsibilities and Duties

    • Design & Implementation: Planning, designing, and upgrading network infrastructures, including VPNs, firewalls, and routers.
    • Maintenance & Support:
    • Conducting routine maintenance, such as patching, software updates, and hardware repairs
    • .
    • Network Security: Implementing and maintaining security measures (e.g., firewalls, access controls) to protect network integrity.
    • Monitoring & Optimization: Monitoring network performance for capacity planning, security threats, and efficiency improvements.
    • Troubleshooting: Resolving complex network outages and user connectivity issues.
    • Documentation: Creating technical documentation, network diagrams, and procedures.

    Required Skills and Qualifications

    • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), and the OSI model.
    • Hardware Proficiency: Experience with Cisco, Juniper, or similar routers, switches, and load balancers.
    • Certifications: Commonly requested certifications include CCNA, CCNP, or CompTIA Network+.
    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
    • Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills to work with team members and third-party vendors.
