    National Legal Counsel

Volunteer Opportunity: National Legal Counsel — American PACT

American PACT to Restore American Values | Remote — United States | Varies — as needed basis (volunteer)

American PACT (People Acting Collectively Together) is a nonpartisan, citizen-led movement dedicated to establishing term limits for Congress and returning government to the people. We are not a political party. We are ordinary citizens who believe that career politicians have had long enough — and that it's time for citizen-leaders to serve briefly, legislate responsibly, and go home.

    Our website: citizensforlimits.org

    About This Role:

National Legal Counsel provides guidance on legal matters affecting the organization, including election law compliance, donation and fundraising regulations, ballot access requirements in each state, and organizational structure. This is one of the most critical roles in the organization as American PACT grows into a national movement with candidates on ballots across the country.

    What You'll Do:

    • Advise leadership on federal and state election law compliance
    • Research and pursue ballot access qualification in each state — requirements vary significantly and deadlines can occur well ahead of election dates
    • Review and guide the legal structure of the organization
    • Ensure all fundraising and contribution activities meet legal requirements
    • Review public-facing documents and materials for legal accuracy
    • Provide guidance on volunteer agreements, liability, and organizational risk
    • Serve as an active member of the national leadership committee, working collectively with other national staff to identify priorities and address emerging needs

    What We're Looking For:

    • Must be a U.S. citizen currently residing in the United States
    • Licensed attorney with experience in election law, nonprofit law, or public interest law
    • Commitment to nonpartisan civic reform
    • Ability to communicate legal concepts clearly to non-lawyers
    • Genuine belief in the mission of citizen-led government and term limits
    • Experience using AI tools such as Claude or ChatGPT for writing, research, and planning (preferred)
    • Willingness to learn and use AI tools as part of regular work is expected of all national volunteers

    This Is For You If:

You've spent your career working within the system and you're ready to help citizens work around it — legally and effectively.
