Nonprofit
Volunteer Social Media Manager – Cobb Bethel Preservation Project
Details
Description
Remote | Volunteer | Project-Based
The John and Ellen Oliver Foundation is seeking a Volunteer Social Media Manager to support the Cobb Bethel Preservation Project, our flagship historic preservation initiative focused on protecting a historic Black cemetery in southwest Atlanta.
Our immediate priority is an upcoming GoFundMe campaign. We have engaged a crowdfunding professional who will lead donor research, direct outreach, campaign messaging, and overall fundraising strategy.
We are looking for a Social Media Manager to work directly alongside our crowdfunding professional and Foundation leadership to execute the public-facing social-media side of the campaign. You will not be expected to develop the fundraising strategy. We need someone who can take approved priorities, messaging, and project updates and turn them into engaging, consistent social-media content.
What You Will Do
- Content Creation & Scheduling: Translate campaign updates, project photographs, historical materials, and approved messaging into engaging posts, carousels, graphics, and short-form videos or reels. Maintain a practical content calendar around campaign launch, fundraising milestones, and preservation updates using Canva, CapCut, or similar tools.
- Community Engagement & Reach: Help expand organic reach by identifying and engaging with relevant accounts and online communities. Monitor comments and messages, respond to routine inquiries using approved information, and help amplify campaign outreach.
- Analytics & Campaign Coordination: Track social-media performance, including reach, shares, engagement, audience growth, and high-performing content. Coordinate directly with our crowdfunding professional and Foundation leadership so social-media activity supports the broader campaign strategy and can be adjusted when needed.
Our crowdfunding professional will remain responsible for donor prospect research, direct donor and organizational outreach, personalized email outreach, and overall fundraising strategy. The Social Media Manager will focus on executing the complementary organic social-media presence.
Who We Are Looking For
A strong candidate will have hands-on experience managing social media or creating digital content for an organization, business, campaign, community initiative, personal brand, or similar project.
You should be comfortable with:
- Facebook and Instagram
- Writing engaging social-media copy
- Creating graphics or video using Canva, Adobe Express, CapCut, or similar tools
- Organic audience growth and community engagement
- Basic social-media analytics
- Working independently while coordinating closely with a campaign professional and Foundation leadership
Time Commitment
This is a flexible, project-based volunteer role. Consistent availability will be especially important during campaign preparation, launch, and active fundraising periods so the Social Media Manager can coordinate with the crowdfunding professional and respond to campaign developments in a timely manner.
