    Description

Our world is faced with an unprecedented global health crisis and it is often nonprofits serving vulnerable populations that encounter the most severe struggles. United Planet is responding to meet these needs by offering opportunities for volunteers to support selected ecological projects. We are closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation in Costa Rica and working to ensure the safety of our volunteers.

Costa Rica is known for its amazing natural beauty, biodiversity, eco-tourism, and warm, relaxed culture. As a volunteer in this Central American republic, you’ll immerse yourself in a nation of undisturbed rain-forests, peaceful atmosphere (the Costa Rican army was abolished in 1948) and Pura Vida lifestyle. Costa Ricans are friendly, relaxed, and willing to lend a hand, or even a home, in times of need. Slow down and appreciate a different pace of life you'll feel at home in this family-oriented culture.

Our projects in Costa Rica support environmental efforts around the country. As a United Planet volunteer in Costa Rica, you can work at rural conservation projects, eco-farms, or wildlife rehabilitation centers.

    Possible volunteer projects include:

    - Environmental conservation projects, which may include maintaining trails and gardens, helping with reforestation projects, planting trees and gardening, and maintaining infrastructure

    - Promoting long-term survival of sea turtles by protecting sea turtle nesting grounds from human poachers and beach erosion

Please visit our website for more information about the projects.
