Description
Best Friends Animal Society in Los Angeles is always welcoming new volunteers to sign up to foster with us. By fostering a pet from our adoption center, you are creating more space in our program to welcome more at-risk pets from other shelters.
Fostering helps us get to know the pets in our care better in a home environment, which really helps their adoption journey. Some pets that need foster homes are:
- Adult Dogs and Cats
- Neonate Puppies and Kittens
- Mom and Babies
- Medical Recovery Pets
- Ringworm Cats
- Behavior Support Pets
Through our foster program, fosters can care for their foster pets short and long term, take dogs on day outings and host sleepovers. We typically ask for a 1-3 week foster commitment depending on the pet's care needs. All supplies and medical care are provided for the foster pet.
Recommendations: Reliable transportation is important as some animals may need to have medical re-checks, vaccines due while in foster or could face a medical emergency.

How to Volunteer for This Opportunity
When signing up to foster, you will either select the Canine or Feline Foster entry point and complete the onboarding steps on the homepage. Once you have a foster and volunteer agreement signed, you can reach out to volunteerla@bestfriends.org for next steps!
