    Description

Help us deliver inspiration directly to inboxes!

At KBI, our newsletters are more than updates—they're curated moments of connection, discovery, and invitation. We're looking for a Volunteer Newsletter Editor who understands that great email content cuts through inbox noise by being genuinely valuable, beautifully designed, and culturally resonant.

This is a role for someone who sees newsletters as ongoing conversations with community. Your editing will help KBI stay top-of-mind for students, families, and educators while inspiring them to take the next step in their STEM journey.

    What you will do

You will be the curator of KBI's most direct communication channel. This means selecting and organizing content that highlights our initiatives, events, and competitions, designing and editing newsletters that are both beautiful and accessible, optimizing content for engagement and SEO best practices, collaborating with writers to ensure timely, accurate, and culturally relevant material, analyzing performance metrics to continuously improve open rates and clicks, committing to editing and sending at least 1-2 newsletters monthly, and maintaining subscriber lists to ensure deliverability and relevance.

You might be a great fit if

You have an editor's eye for clarity, flow, and compelling headlines. You understand email design principles and what makes people click. You're detail-oriented but also understand the bigger picture of community communication. You want your editing work to help educational opportunities land in inboxes when people are most ready to engage.

What you will get out of this

This is a chance to own a key communication channel while developing newsletter strategy and editing skills. You'll gain experience with email marketing platforms, content curation, and performance analysis while working on educational content. You'll see your newsletters drive event registrations and community engagement, and you'll build a portfolio of polished email campaigns.

    Why this role matters

Inboxes are sacred space. Without thoughtfully curated, well-edited newsletters, we risk being ignored or, worse, annoying our community. Your editing ensures that when KBI appears in someone's inbox, it's a welcome moment that adds value, builds connection, and inspires action.
