Nonprofit
Motion Graphics & Animation Content Creator - Social Media #007
Details
Description
Help bring ImpactKits' stories to life through motion, animation, and visual storytelling.
The ImpactKits Project is seeking a creative and enthusiastic Motion Graphics & Animation Content Creator to create engaging animated content for our social media, campaigns, educational materials, and community outreach.
You'll work as part of a collaborative creative team alongside our Social Media Content Creators, Social Media Strategy & Content Planning Specialists, and other marketing and communications volunteers.
Rather than being responsible for an entire content project by yourself, you'll specialize in turning approved ideas, scripts, assets, and creative briefs into polished motion graphics and animated content.
You will have creative freedom in how you visually execute a project while receiving clear direction, resources, feedback, and support from the ImpactKits team.
This is a great opportunity for aspiring or experienced motion designers, animators, video creators, graphic designers, and visual storytellers who want to build a portfolio while contributing to a student-led nonprofit.
What You'll Do
Motion Graphics & Animation
- Create animated videos and motion graphics that communicate ImpactKits' mission, programs, campaigns, and community impact.
- Produce motion-based content for Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and other digital platforms.
- Create animated typography, transitions, visual effects, and branded motion elements.
- Turn static graphics, illustrations, icons, photos, and other assets into engaging animated content.
- Develop animated explainers, educational content, campaign graphics, and promotional visuals.
- Create reusable motion graphic templates and branded visual assets.
- Adapt existing content into different formats, durations, and aspect ratios when needed.
Visual Storytelling
- Translate approved scripts, concepts, and creative briefs into visual stories.
- Recommend animation styles, transitions, pacing, and visual approaches.
- Use motion to make complex or important information easier to understand.
- Help develop visual treatments for fundraising campaigns, volunteer recruitment, donation drives, community partnerships, and special initiatives.
- Experiment with creative approaches while keeping content consistent with ImpactKits' brand and messaging.
Collaboration
You'll collaborate with other members of the creative and communications team.
Depending on the project, you may receive:
- A content brief
- An approved script or outline
- Campaign objectives
- Key messages
- Brand guidelines
- Photos and illustrations
- Logos and other visual assets
- Voiceovers or audio
- References or examples
- Required formats and deadlines
You'll then focus on bringing those materials to life visually.
You may also recommend improvements or alternative creative approaches when you believe they would make the final content stronger.
What You Will NOT Be Expected to Do
You will not be expected to independently run ImpactKits' entire content operation.
Specifically, you will not normally be responsible for:
- Writing every video script.
- Developing the entire social media strategy.
- Managing ImpactKits' social media accounts.
- Creating every social media post.
- Recording voiceovers.
- Finding every asset needed for a project.
- Managing other creative volunteers.
- Developing complete campaigns entirely on your own.
- Being responsible for publishing all finished content.
- Purchasing software, equipment, or other resources.
- Working beyond your agreed weekly commitment.
If a project requires a script, campaign strategy, voiceover, social media planning, or other work outside your role, the appropriate team member will help provide it.
Your role is to specialize in motion graphics and animation; not to become the entire video department.
How You'll Be Supported
You won't be expected to figure everything out alone.
Each project will have a designated point of contact who can help with:
- Project priorities
- Creative briefs
- Questions
- Assets and resources
- Feedback
- Approvals
- Deadlines
- Project blockers
You'll receive the information and materials needed to begin assigned projects whenever possible.
If you cannot continue because you're waiting for a script, asset, decision, feedback, approval, or another team member, you can flag a task as Blocked rather than trying to solve the problem yourself.
Your coordinator will help resolve or escalate the blocker.
We also recognize that volunteers are giving their time freely. Your agreed availability will be respected, and you will not be expected to consistently work beyond your stated commitment.
The completed content is prepared for the appropriate platform or campaign.
This process may vary depending on the project, but you will always know what you're being asked to create, why it is needed, and who to go to for support.

Scheduling is flexible, and much of the work can be completed asynchronously.
Your workload will be assigned based on your stated availability. You may work on one primary project at a time, with additional assignments added when your existing workload allows.
