    Description

Volunteer Recruitment & Community Outreach Intern

NW Collaborative’s The Shopp is a women-led nonprofit thrift boutique in Portland dedicated to serving survivors of trafficking, domestic violence, homelessness, addiction recovery, and other critical situations.

Through our boutique and community partnerships, we provide clothing, suitcases, and basic essentials to individuals rebuilding their lives. Every cent of net proceeds from The Shopp goes directly toward supporting survivors and the advocates who walk alongside them.

The Shopp is intentionally designed as a welcoming boutique environment where individuals can shop with dignity. Our trauma-informed approach focuses on creating a safe and respectful space where people can access essential items, rebuild confidence, and connect with a network of supportive community organizations.

    Position Overview

NW Collaborative is a small but passionate team, and volunteers are a vital part of what makes our work possible. We are looking for someone who is excited about helping us grow and strengthen our volunteer community.

In this role, you will help expand our volunteer network by reaching out to individuals, schools, community groups, and local businesses who want to make a difference.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist with volunteer outreach and recruitment
    • Help connect with schools, universities, and community organizations
    • Support the creation of volunteer materials, flyers, and onboarding resources
    • Help welcome and orient new volunteers
    • Assist with organizing volunteer schedules and communication
    • Support occasional community events and outreach opportunities

    What You’ll Gain

    • Hands-on experience with nonprofit operations and community engagement
    • Opportunity to help build and shape a growing volunteer program
    • Experience working with a social enterprise nonprofit model
    • Direct involvement in meaningful work supporting survivors in our community

    Our Team

We are a small but deeply committed team, and every volunteer and intern makes a real impact. If you enjoy connecting with people, organizing projects, and helping build community, this is a great opportunity to be part of something meaningful.

We believe collaboration is at the heart of this work, and we are always grateful for those who want to come alongside us to help make a difference.
