The YMCA Outreach Program for Aging Seniors is a community effort offering FREE support services for seniors in need. Services are provided by wonderful community volunteers. The objective is to meet the needs of the growing senior population here in the Valley, with the goal of enabling seniors to maintain independent living in their own homes.

Y OPAS started in 2001 in Ahwatukee, and expanded to also serve both Scottsdale and the Southwest Valley in the summer 2023. Volunteers have the flexibility to sign up any time or day of the week, and as often as desired with each service typically lasting around 1 - 3 hours. The 65+ population is the fastest growing demographic both nationally and locally, and we need YOU!

How can you help?

• Provide transportation to and from appointments
• Grocery shopping and errands with or for clients
• Friendly connections - spend time with clients in person or via phone
• Social Planning & Events (Luncheons, Art Classes, Dominos, etc..)
• Paperwork & Tech Assistance
• Minor Handyman Assistance

What are the Requirements to Volunteer?

• 21 years and older
• Complete the New Volunteer Orientation
• Pass a Background Check and Motor Vehicle Records Check if providing transportation
• Have a Valid Driver's License, Auto Insurance, and a Reliable Vehicle.
• Have a heart to serve seniors!
