BACKGROUND: The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. At work in over 45 countries and 25 U.S. cities to restore safety, dignity and hope, the IRC leads the way from harm to home. Domestically, our 25 offices across the U.S. ensure new arrivals have food, shelter, and clothing, and work with refugees to help them gain self-sufficiency.
SCOPE OF WORK: The Anti-Trafficking Outreach Intern is responsible for working as part of IRC Sacramento’s HOPE (Human trafficking Outreach, Prevention, and Education) Anti-Trafficking Program. Through trauma-informed, client-centered, intensive case management and financial direct assistance, survivors of labor and sex trafficking are supported on their path to safety, security, and self-sufficiency. Additionally, IRC conducts targeted direct outreach to vulnerable populations, including persons experiencing homelessness and migrant farmworkers.
The day-to-day of AT internships is fast-paced and offers a hands-on experience into the world of U.S. counter-trafficking efforts. Interns receive training in the legal framework, identification of victims, and the human rights-based approach in service delivery. The internship is focused on supporting the training and outreach efforts of the Anti-Trafficking team and reports to the Anti-Trafficking Supervisor.
