    Description

    This position enables individuals with special needs to gain confidence and self esteem. Sidewalker volunteers are directly responsible for the student rider. The sidewalker should help the student focus his/her attention on the instructor and assist in completing the assignment. There may be one or two sidewalker's per student.

    A horse leader volunteer's responsibility is the horse. Lead horse in arena with student riding and one or two sidewalkers helping student. Leader is controlling horse for safety of rider and sidewalkers but allowing rider to perform instructors commands up to their ability. Must keep aware of horses attitude. Also be aware of rider and what is happening around the horse. Saddling and grooming sometimes.

    Volunteers are needed for 6 week classes.
