Description
The Hopewell-Prince George Friends of the Library operates as a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization to promote the Appomattox Regional Library System and the use of its resources. The Friends of the Library does so through fundraising and spending said funds on library programs, materials, and equipment. Examples include furniture for the new nursing room in the Hopewell branch and funds for the annual Summer Reading Program. One key component to the Friend's fundraising is the operation of the The Readers' Friend Book Store at the Hopewell Branch. The Book Store is currently looking for a volunteer to work on Saturday's from 10:15am to 2:30pm.
Responsibilities include:
- Opening and closing the store
- Packing books and other materials into boxes (some heavy lifting may be involved
- Operating a cash register (basic mathematics) and credit card point of sale machine
- Shelving books by genre and author
- Scanning books with a barcode scanner to be sold online
- Other duties as needed
