Zoom Room Co-Host Volunteer
250th U.S. Anniversary Presentation: Through the Eyes of the Enslaved
We are seeking dedicated volunteers to help support our upcoming virtual event, Through the Eyes of the Enslaved, commemorating the 250th Anniversary of the United States through the stories and experiences of those who were enslaved.
The Zoom Room Co-Host Volunteer will play a critical role in helping the event run smoothly, professionally, and safely for presenters, guests, lawmakers, media representatives, and attendees.
Volunteer Responsibilities Include:
- Assisting with management of the Zoom room during the live presentation
- Admitting guests into the event and helping direct participants as needed
- Monitoring the room for disruptions and removing individuals attempting to sabotage or interrupt the event
- Muting participants and helping maintain order throughout the presentation
- Managing the chat room and responding to attendee needs when appropriate
- Sharing links, resources, and presentation materials in the chat during the event
- Assisting with the creation and coordination of a virtual press room
- Helping move lawmakers, media outlets, and publication representatives into designated breakout rooms for interviews and press questions
- Supporting the flow and timing of the event alongside the hosting team
We are looking for volunteers who are organized, professional, calm under pressure, and comfortable navigating Zoom features such as breakout rooms, chat moderation, participant management, and screen coordination.
This is an opportunity to help support an important historical presentation centered on preserving and amplifying the voices and experiences of those who were enslaved.
