Life's Treasures Volunteer with Reserve Care (formerly Hospice of the Western Reserve)

Basic volunteer duties involved with his assignment:

• Volunteer drivers do pick ups of donations (10-15 mile radius in your own vehicle)
• Furniture movers
  • Physically lifting filled plastic bins, furniture, and other items as needed
  • Ability to lift 25-75 lbs, use dollies as needed
• Decorating/Merchandising
  • Decorating store, merchandising, and staging products for maximum saleability
• Sales and Customer Service: Assisting customers with sales, helping bring items to cashiers, other help as needed
• Donation Processing: process incoming donations by sorting, tagging, folding, pricing, cleaning donations when needed
• Volunteer shift manager: Assign volunteers to daily tasks and supervise during shifts

Basic volunteer qualifications involved with this assignment:

• Prior retail or similar experience desired
• Physical lifting
• Courteous communication
• Creativity
• Following instructions
• Organizational skills
• Completing tasks in timely manner

Who will be served by this assignment?

The community of Medina and surrounding areas. Provide affordable items for people to purchase. Provides volunteers with opportunity to give back locally to non-profit agency. Non-profit Thrift Store will be able to further mission to raise funds for HWR.

What is the anticipated benefit of this volunteer service to those receiving the service?

Thrift Store Team will receive much needed operating help so they can ensure store operates efficiently, maintain regular hours, ensure paid staff are not overworked and help raise funds that support hospice patients and their families.

What specific skills will the volunteer need?

Physically lifting filled plastic bins and transporting to other store areas, furniture, and other items as needed. Good communication and courteous with customers, supervisors, fellow volunteers, and the public.
