    Description

    Do you have a passion for saving animals? Small Angels Rescue, Inc. is in need of an Animal Coordinator for Gerbils (volunteer) who has a passion for animal welfare and a deep commitment to saving the lives of the smallest and most vulnerable pets. 'Pocket Pets' are often treated inhumanely and discarded when no longer wanted, and it is our mission to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome gerbils, guinea pigs, hamsters, mice and rats

    Requirements:

    We need someone who is in or around the DC/MD/VA area and who has prior experience with care of gerbils.

    Responsibilities:

    The Animal Coordinator will oversee all activities related to the gerbils under their care

    • Scheduling and coordinating intakes
    • Managing the program's Team Leaders (if applicable) and/or foster homes
    • Placing animals into foster homes
    • Reviewing and approving adoption applications
    • Arranging adoptions
    • Caring for animals under temporary intake quarantine
    • Arranging and approving veterinary care
    • Participating in monthly board meetings
    • Purchasing and distributing care items to foster homes as needed
    • Maintaining and updating records and receipts for the program

    As an At-Large Board Member, you will participate in Board Meetings. These are held quarterly in-person in Frederick, Maryland, and monthly via teleconference/Zoom.

    Small Angels Rescue, Inc. is a growing all-volunteer, registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that serves an area of desperate need in the community. Since its inception in October 2003, Small Angels Rescue, Inc. has saved over 4,500 guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, mice, and gerbils from euthanasia, abuse, and abandonment. These animals are worthy of respectful and compassionate treatment. We advocate and facilitate responsible animal care and companionship.
