Graphic Designer Volunteer
About the Organization
Florida Youth At Risk (FYAR) is dedicated to transforming the lives of youth ages 12–25 and strengthening underserved communities through the empowering arts of uplifting, feel-good music and live performance. We integrate accessible arts education with mentorship in financial literacy and mental wellness, helping young people build confidence, resilience, creativity, and collaboration.
Our work centers on two core programs: a Career Mentoring & Music Career Day series that pairs career exploration with financial literacy and mental health education, and a Community Talent Showcase that gives young people a stage and a voice to explore new career paths. Founded in 2024 and based in Fort Lauderdale, FL, we're a growing organization — and the volunteers who join us now help shape what we become.
Role Summary
We're looking for a Graphic Design Volunteer to help us build a consistent, professional visual presence across our digital campaigns. You'll create the graphics that introduce FYAR to new families, funders, and community partners — and, if it interests you, help us build our very first brand guideline from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
- Create display ad graphics and banners
- Design landing page visual elements
- Develop video ad graphics and thumbnails
- Create social proof graphics (testimonials, impact stats)
- Design branded templates for seasonal campaigns
- (Optional, high-impact) Help establish FYAR's first brand guideline and brand kit — a rare opportunity to define the organization's visual identity from scratch and see it carried through every future campaign
Time Commitment
Flexible, recurring volunteer position with availability across weekdays and weekends (daytime/evenings). Most volunteers contribute about 5–8 hours per week.
Location
Fully remote; volunteer can be anywhere globally (associated with Fort Lauderdale, FL, USA).
Qualifications
- Experience with graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar)
- An eye for visual consistency and brand-building
- Comfort working independently and communicating proactively with a remote team
- Passion for youth development, the arts, or nonprofit work
- A portfolio or a few work samples to share
What You'll Gain
- A meaningful portfolio piece: real design work for a nonprofit serving at-risk youth
- Creative ownership, including the chance to build a brand system from the ground up
- Fast onboarding — our volunteer team follows up within 48–72 hours
- A flexible schedule that works around a full-time job or studies
- A community with a growing, mission-driven team
