If you enjoy writing clear, human stories and want to help underserved children access education, this role is for you. Oppia is looking for Content Writers to support our Communications & Engagement Team by crafting stories, messages, and content that make Oppia’s impact visible, relatable, and inspiring.

Who We Are

The Oppia Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with the mission to provide high quality education to all. We do this through the creation and maintenance of our free-to-use platform, Oppia (https://www.oppia.org), the coordination of our passionate contributors, and the development of critical partnerships with NGOs in the communities we aim to serve.

Where You Fit In

Millions of children are not receiving the education they deserve. Of the 61 million children worldwide who cannot attend primary school, 17 million will never step foot into a school if trends continue. In the wake of COVID-19, millions more children are also seeing interruptions in their daily lives, stability, and education – making it even more difficult than before for many students to get the education they need to succeed.

The learners we serve are typically from low-income families that cannot afford to pay for education; in some cases, the parents may not even have had the opportunity to attend school. Thus, to maintain and improve the services that we offer them, it is important to tell our story right to our community, partners, donors, and volunteers. Many people who would benefit from Oppia, or who could support it, don’t yet know its story.

We are currently seeking strong content writers who can help bridge that gap by translating Oppia’s work into clear, engaging, and meaningful content. Your writing will help learners feel seen, supporters feel connected, and audiences understand why Oppia matters.

Content writers will help with the following activities:

Short-form Content

• Write social media captions and posts
• Create campaign copy, headlines, and CTAs
• Adapt messaging for different platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.)
• Ensure writing is accessible, human, and mission-aligned

Long-form Content

• Research and write blog posts and LinkedIn articles
• Write newsletter content (impact stories, updates, donor communications)
• Develop learner, teacher, partner, and volunteer stories
• Translate technical or product updates into clear narratives
• Support seasonal and campaign-based storytelling (e.g. back-to-school, fundraising)

What we’re looking for

• Strong writing and storytelling skills
• Ability to communicate clearly in English
• Attention to detail
• Ability to adapt tone for different audiences
• Responsiveness and reliability
• Interest in education, impact storytelling, or nonprofits
• (Prior experience is helpful but not required — learning on the job is welcome.)
