    Online Community Moderator (Volunteer)

    San Diego Metamorphosis Collective (SDMMC)

Remote / Online | Volunteer Position

    About Us

The San Diego Metamorphosis Collective (SDMMC) is a new, community-driven group focused on recovery, connection, personal growth, and mutual support. We welcome individuals pursuing all forms of recovery and strive to create an inclusive, respectful, and LGBTQIA+-affirming environment.

As a new community group with hopes of expanding, we are building our online spaces and developing a supportive community where people can connect, share experiences, and grow together. We are looking for a compassionate and dependable Online Community Moderator Volunteer to help us build and maintain a welcoming environment as we grow.

    Responsibilities

    • Monitor and help manage our online communities, including Facebook and Discord.
    • Welcome new members and encourage positive participation.
    • Help maintain a respectful, inclusive, and judgment-free environment.
    • Review posts and comments to ensure they follow community guidelines.
    • Address spam, harassment, and inappropriate content.
    • Help answer basic member questions and direct people to appropriate resources.
    • Encourage engagement, meaningful conversations, and community involvement.
    • Communicate with the founder about concerns, conflicts, and opportunities to improve the community.

    Qualifications

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Compassionate, patient, and respectful toward people from diverse backgrounds.
    • Comfortable using social media and online community platforms.
    • Able to handle sensitive conversations with discretion.
    • Reliable, organized, and willing to collaborate with a small team.
    • Supportive of recovery-focused communities and LGBTQIA+ inclusion.

Previous moderation experience is a plus but is not required. We welcome individuals who are eager to learn, contribute ideas, and help build a growing community.

    Time Commitment

This is a flexible, remote volunteer position. Scheduling and availability can be discussed with the founder. Consistent communication and a willingness to contribute are appreciated.

    What You’ll Gain

    • Hands-on experience in online community management and moderation.
    • An opportunity to help shape and grow a new community group.
    • Experience in leadership, communication, and community development.
    • The chance to make a meaningful difference by helping people feel welcomed, supported, and connected.

    Additional Information

This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity. SDMMC is in its early stages of development, and volunteers will have the opportunity to contribute ideas, help establish community standards, and play a meaningful role in our future growth and expansion.

    Interested in joining us?

Please apply with a brief introduction about yourself, why you are interested in this role, and any relevant experience you would like to share. We look forward to connecting with people who share our vision for a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive recovery community.
