Educational Support, Digital Inclusion & Socio-Emotional Volunteering
Details
Description
We are looking for committed volunteers to join Cusimaky in San Jerónimo, Cusco. Volunteers will directly support our daily activities with a core group of 30 vulnerable children.
Areas of Collaboration:
- Academic Reinforcement: Helping children with homework, basic math, reading, and elementary English.
- Digital Inclusion: Teaching basic computer skills and technological literacy.
- Creative Workshops: Leading socio-emotional support, art expression, sports, or environmental education.
About Us:
Cusimaky is a local initiative managed by grassroots leaders working directly on the ground. Our children attend school but lack resources for supplies or uniforms. Many start their day with just a "mate" (hot water with sugar) and bread. We provide a safe sanctuary, free homework tutoring, computer access, meals, and dignity.
Requirements:
- Empathy, patience, and a deep sense of responsibility.
- Minimum stay recommended for in-person volunteers: 2 weeks.
Location
Cusimaky Community Center
Directions
From Cusco’s historical center, you can take a taxi or a public bus ('colectivo') towards San Jerónimo (look for buses like 'Ttio ls Florida' or 'C4M' or 'Chaska'). Get off at the San Jerónimo main avenue, near the local cemetery. The community center is located at Calle Agustín Gamarra 161, just behind the cemetery area.
