    Description

    Trauma Speaks, Inc. is seeking a skilled and motivated Grant Researcher and Writer to support our efforts in identifying and securing funding opportunities. This role is ideal for someone with prior experience in nonprofit grant research and proposal development who is comfortable working with a startup organization and contributing to foundational funding strategies.

    The selected individual will play a key role in researching relevant grant opportunities and developing high-quality, compelling grant proposals that align with our mission and programmatic goals.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct comprehensive research to identify local, state, and national grant opportunities aligned with Trauma Speaks, Inc.’s mission and services
    • Evaluate eligibility criteria and funding priorities to determine best-fit opportunities
    • Develop and write clear, persuasive, and well-structured grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting materials
    • Collaborate with organizational leadership to gather necessary programmatic, financial, and impact-related information
    • Assist in creating and maintaining a grant calendar, tracking deadlines and submission requirements
    • Support the development of standard grant language, including organizational descriptions, program narratives, and impact statements
    • Revise and edit existing materials to strengthen competitiveness for funding
    • Maintain organized records of submissions, outcomes, and funder communications

    Qualifications

    • Demonstrated experience in grant research and grant writing for nonprofit organizations
    • Strong understanding of the grant application process, including federal, state, foundation, and private funding sources
    • Proven ability to write successful grant proposals or compelling funding narratives
    • Excellent written communication, editing, and organizational skills
    • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a small team
    • Familiarity with mental health, trauma-informed care, or related fields is strongly preferred
    • Experience working with startup or early-stage nonprofits is highly desirable

    • Comfortable working in a startup environment where structure is still being developed and are able to translate limited initial materials into strong, fundable proposals.
    • Understands how to position a small nonprofit competitively and can help shape funding narratives that reflect both impact and growth potential.
