The Salvation Army is currently hosting the Akron Regional Music and Arts Program, which began on January 28, 2026, and will run through the end of April. This program will also resume in the fall.
The program takes place on Wednesday evenings from 5:00–7:00 PM at The Salvation Army, 190 S. Maple Street in Akron. Our focus is music and arts education, offering instruction in brass, piano, percussion, dance, and drama. We hope to expand the program in the future to include guitar and violin.
Attendance has been strong, averaging 20–25 children each week. As the program continues to grow, we are seeking additional leadership support and skilled instructors who are passionate about teaching and mentoring children.
Each evening, the children are provided with a meal, and a short devotional is shared by our youth pastor, Corey Smith.
All volunteers will participate in an interview process and complete our online child safety training course, KeepSafe.
If you have the gift of music and a heart for investing in young people, we would be honored to have you share your talents with the children in our community.
