Volunteer Opportunity for Adults 55+

Through the ADVOCAP AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP Program, adults age 55 and older have the opportunity to support older adults in the community through meaningful volunteer service. The RSVP Program provides support to volunteers in their service roles.

The Fond du Lac County ADRC is currently seeking volunteers for its Congregate Nutrition Program dining sites, with the greatest need at Northgate Apartments in North Fond du Lac and the Waupun Community Center.

Volunteer Role

Dining Site Volunteer – Congregate Nutrition Program

Volunteers help support meal service and create a welcoming, efficient environment for older adults. In addition to assisting with the meal, volunteers help foster a friendly and social atmosphere where participants feel comfortable and connected.

Volunteer Responsibilities

• Set up tables and dining areas
• Greet participants and assist with check-in
• Assist with meal service
• Provide light assistance to participants as needed
• Help with clean-up after meals
• Follow basic food safety and sanitation guidelines

Schedule

• Weekday mornings, generally 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Site Days:

• Fond du Lac & North Fond du Lac: Monday–Friday
• Ripon: Monday, Wednesday, Friday
• Waupun: Monday–Wednesday

Volunteer Structure

• 2–3 volunteers are needed at each site daily
• Typically:
  • 1 volunteer assists with check-in and sign-up
  • 1–2 volunteers assist with serving and clean-up

Volunteer Benefits

• Volunteers receive a free meal on the days they serve
• Flexible scheduling available
• Many volunteers choose to serve one regular day each month, though weekly volunteers are also greatly appreciated

Requirements

• Must be 55 years of age or older
• Reliable and able to communicate schedule changes
• Comfortable working with older adults
• Able to follow instructions and work as part of a team
• Some roles involve standing or light lifting
• Background check required
• Training is provided
