    Description

    Intake & Case Management Volunteer/ Interns

    Organization: My New House

    Location: Koreatown, Los Angeles

    Time Commitment: Minimum of 4 hours per week | Internship hours accepted

    My New House is seeking compassionate and dedicated volunteers to support our Intake and Case Management services. Our nonprofit provides essential assistance to individuals and families in need, including low-income housing support, utility bill assistance, government cash aid, home food deliveries, and free transportation to appointments.

    This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about community service, advocacy, and direct client support.

    Volunteer Responsibilities

    Client Intake & Support

    • Conduct intake assessments to evaluate client needs and determine eligibility for services
    • Collect and organize required documentation to support assistance programs

    Client Meetings & Follow-Ups

    • Meet with clients in person at our office during scheduled case management dates and times
    • Conduct follow-ups in person, virtually, or by phone, as needed

    Case Management & Social Work Support

    • Provide guidance, counseling, and emotional support to clients experiencing housing instability, financial hardship, food insecurity, transportation barriers, and educational needs
    • Develop and implement individualized service plans based on client goals

    Affordable Housing Assistance

    • Assist clients with affordable housing applications
    • Gather documentation, submit applications, and advocate on behalf of clients

    Referrals & Collaboration

    • Coordinate referrals and collaborate with community organizations, government agencies, and service providers to ensure comprehensive support

    Documentation

    • Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely client records in accordance with organizational and legal requirements

    Requirements & Skills

    • Availability of at least 4 hours per week
    • Pursuing or graduate of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field
    • Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, patience, and cultural competence
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines
    • Commitment to ethics, confidentiality, social justice, and equity
    • Spanish is a plus
