    Help Job Seekers with Digital Tools and Computer Basics - Bilingual Career Resource Center Volunteer

    JVS is a non-profit, non-sectarian agency. Our mission is to empower individuals from diverse communities to find employment and build careers; and to partner with employers to hire, develop and retain productive workforces.

    Program/Department Overview:

    MassHire Downtown Boston (MHDB) is the career center within JVS Boston, dedicated to supporting job seekers across Massachusetts through free, cutting-edge knowledge, resources, and guidance. MHDB partners with Boston-area employers to connect job seekers to their next career opportunity.

    Volunteer Role Summary:

    The Career Resource Center has 20+ computers for job seekers to utilize for working on their resumes, LinkedIn profile, job applications, and connecting to resources. This volunteer role involves direct interaction with customers, assisting them in accessing services and resources, and support with basic computer navigation. Training will be provided for all responsibilities.

    Responsibilities:

    • Greet and assist customers as they check in at the Career Resource Center
    • Provide support with basic computer usage and troubleshooting
    • Assist customers with editing, formatting, and printing Word documents
    • Refer customers to appropriate workshops, webinars, and other MHDB resources

    Qualifications:

    • Must be able to speak and understand Haitian Creole and/or Spanish
    • Friendly, patient, and adaptable; able to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
    • Committed to supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those facing significant challenges
    • Familiarity with Windows operating systems and major web browsers
    • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Google Docs, and various email applications
