    Assistant Project Manager (Volunteer)

    Cross-Functional Operations | Project Coordination, Execution & Delivery

    Location: Remote / Hybrid (NYC-based collaboration as needed)

    Works Closely With: All Divisions (PromiseLearning, PromiseStudios, PromiseStack, PromisePublic, PromiseMeasure, PromiseGiving)

    About Mentor A Promise

    Mentor A Promise (MAP) is a New York City–based nonprofit dedicated to empowering youth experiencing housing instability through mentorship, education, and community—fostering resilience and pathways to stability, opportunity, and hope.

    Role Overview

    We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the planning, coordination, and execution of projects across MAP’s programs, operations, and strategic initiatives.

    This role ensures that projects move forward with structure, accountability, and clarity—supporting timelines, tracking deliverables, and aligning teams to achieve high-quality outcomes.

    Key Responsibilities

    Project Coordination & Execution

    • Support planning and execution of cross-functional projects and initiatives
    • Assist in developing project timelines, milestones, and deliverables
    • Track progress and ensure projects remain on schedule

    Task Management & Accountability

    • Monitor task assignments and follow up with team members on deliverables
    • Identify risks, delays, or gaps and escalate as needed
    • Support resolution of operational challenges

    Documentation & Reporting

    • Maintain organized project documentation, trackers, and reports
    • Prepare status updates for leadership and stakeholders
    • Support creation of project briefs and summaries

    Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Coordinate across divisions to ensure alignment and communication
    • Support collaboration between program, tech, communications, and operations teams
    • Facilitate clear and timely communication across stakeholders

    Systems & Workflow Support

    • Assist in improving project management systems and processes
    • Ensure proper use of tools (Google Workspace, project trackers, etc.)
    • Support workflow standardization and efficiency

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Strong organizational and time management skills
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously
    • Strong communication and follow-up skills
    • Detail-oriented with a problem-solving mindset
    • Alignment with MAP’s mission and values

    Preferred

    • Experience in project coordination, operations, or program management
    • Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Asana, Trello, ClickUp)
    • Experience in nonprofit, education, or startup environments
    • Interest in operations, strategy, or organizational development

    Commitment

    • Volunteer role
    • Approximately 5–10 hours per week
    • Minimum 6-month commitment required
    • Remote with optional NYC-based collaboration
