We are seeking a skilled volunteer Electrical Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team and help us design and deploy cutting-edge IoT devices for educational, startup and community development projects.

Role: Volunteer Electrical Engineer (IoT)
Location: Remote
Commitment: minimum of 20 hours per week for at least 3 months.
Key Responsibilities
As a crucial member of our Innovation team, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of our IoT device development, including:
- Firmware Development: Writing, testing, and debugging efficient and reliable firmware (primarily in C/C++ or Python) for microcontrollers used in our IoT devices.
- PCB Design: Designing, laying out, and prototyping printed circuit boards (PCBs) using industry-standard tools (e.g., KiCad, Eagle).
- Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Working closely with mechanical engineers, software developers, and project managers to integrate electrical components into a complete, functional product.
- Prototyping & Testing: Building and rigorously testing prototypes to ensure devices meet performance, reliability, and security requirements in real-world deployment scenarios.

- Education: Creating accessible, low-cost smart sensors and educational tools to monitor environmental conditions or track resource usage in underserved communities.

- IMPACT: Engineering reliable devices that provide actionable data, allowing us to accurately measure and demonstrate the positive change in the communities we serve.
Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience in embedded systems and firmware development (e.g., ESP32, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, various microcontrollers).
- Strong proficiency in PCB design and layout, schematic capture, and component selection.
- Familiarity with various communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, LoRa, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth).
- Experience with testing and debugging hardware prototypes.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote, collaborative, and multidisciplinary environment.
