    Description

    California Coast Classic Bike Tour - Support & Gear Volunteer

    The Arthritis Foundation’s California Coast Classic (CCC) Bike Tour takes place over 8 days, Sept 26-Oct 3. Its' success depends on amazing, energetic, and hard-working volunteers.

    Overview

    Reliable and energetic volunteers to support our event by assisting with on-course rider support. This role is essential to ensuring participants have a safe, smooth, and well-supported experience throughout each day of the tour. This position is needed for the full length of the tour, September 26th – October 3rd.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Drive a designated SAG vehicle on course for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
    • Communicate clearly via two-way radio with event staff and other SAG vehicles.
    • Use an iPad and follow RideWithGPS for route guidance and assignment updates.
    • Assist riders with basic needs on course, including handing out water, snacks, and electrolytes.
    • Safely load and transport bikes, including lifting up to 50 lbs and securing bikes properly to vehicle racks.

    Requirements

    • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
    • Comfortable driving for long durations and in varying conditions.
    • Basic understanding of bike handling and safe bike-rack loading procedures.
    • Friendly, calm, and supportive demeanor when assisting riders.

    Time Commitment

    • Must be able to commit to arriving in San Francisco on Friday, September 25th, before the event to get your vehicle set up and go through mandatory training
    • Daily schedules will vary, but you should be flexible and willing to work 8-hour shifts.

    Day 1 - San Francisco to Santa Cruz

    Day 2 - Santa Cruz to Monterey

    Day 3 - Monterey to Big Sur

    Day 4 - Big Sur to Cambria

    Day 5 - Cambria to Oceano

    Day 6 - Oceano to Buellton

    Day 7 - Buellton to Van Nuys

    Day 8 - Van Nuys to Malibu
