This governance-level leadership role guides the strategic use of technology in service to GWE’s mission, advancing education, equity, and financial empowerment in underserved communities.

The CTO provides insight, oversight, and direction on digital systems, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and innovation to ensure our technology supports long-term sustainability and community impact.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Advise on GWE’s technology vision, infrastructure, and tools to align with the organization’s strategic goals
    • Coordinate the development of technology budgets and provide guidance on cost-effective implementation
    • Review and approve systems, platforms, and vendors to ensure accessibility, security, and scalability
    • Work with staff or contractors (if applicable) to maintain digital systems, including our board portal, website, and communications tools
    • Ensure data privacy and cybersecurity best practices are implemented and reviewed regularly
    • Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board Officers on IT-related policies, planning, and risk management
    • Monitor trends in nonprofit and financial education tech to recommend upgrades or innovations
    • Support the onboarding of new board members through technology training or platform setup
    • Serve as a thought partner in long-term planning around digital equity and innovation in service delivery

    Ideal Candidate

    • Strong experience with IT systems, cybersecurity, tech planning, or digital transformation
    • Strategic thinker with the ability to explain tech concepts to non-technical board/staff
    • Experience with budgeting and evaluating cost-benefit of tech tools or vendors
    • Passionate about the role technology plays in advancing education, equity, and nonprofit impact
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and advise on secure systems
    • Comfortable using and/or advising on platforms like Slack, Google Workspace, board portals, CRMs, etc.

    Why Serve as GWE’s CTO?

This is a unique opportunity to apply your technical expertise in a mission-driven, equity-focused organization. As CTO, you will play a key role in ensuring that GWE is secure, accessible, and future-focused in its use of technology, helping to grow our impact and effectiveness.
