Hospice Volunteers Needed – Direct Patient & Administrative Opportunities
Make a meaningful difference in the lives of hospice patients and their families.
THEMA Health Services is seeking compassionate volunteers to join our hospice team in the Tucson, Vail, Green Valley, Oro Valley, Marana and Casa Grande areas. Whether you enjoy spending time with people or prefer helping behind the scenes, we have a volunteer opportunity for you.
Direct Patient Volunteers
Direct patient volunteers provide companionship and emotional support to hospice patients and their families. Volunteer activities may include:
- Friendly visits and conversation
- Reading books, devotionals, or letters
- Playing games or listening to music
- Sharing hobbies and interests
- Providing caregiver respite while family members take a short break
- Veteran-to-veteran visits through our We Honor Veterans program
- Pet therapy visits (for approved pet therapy teams)
- Tuck-In Program phone calls to check on patients and families before weekends
No medical experience is required. Your presence, compassion, and willingness to listen can make a tremendous difference.
Administrative Volunteers
Administrative volunteers support our hospice team from the office by assisting with tasks such as:
- Filing and organizing documents
- Data entry and record maintenance
- Preparing volunteer and patient materials
- Making phone calls
- Assisting with special projects and events
- Supporting community outreach and recruitment efforts
Administrative volunteers play a vital role in helping us serve more patients and families.

Requirements
To become a hospice volunteer, applicants must:
- Complete a volunteer application and orientation
- Provide a valid driver's license
- Provide proof of auto insurance
- Complete a TB test (provided free of charge through our office)
- Pass any required screenings and onboarding requirements
