    Description

    The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program provides complimentary federal tax return preparation services to low-income families and individuals.

    The VITA Volunteer plays a crucial role in preparing tax returns at an advanced level for individuals with low-to-moderate incomes. These prepared returns undergo a thorough accuracy check by a trained quality reviewer before being submitted to the IRS.

    This position necessitates the use of tax preparation software, punctuality, the application of stringent ethical standards, and adherence to guidelines established by United Way and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The tax preparer volunteer will undergo training & certification, covering income tax law pertinent to the scope of the VITA program's returns.
